Thank you function 3-11-11

At a recent meeting the Trustees agreed with Allison, CEO that it would be a lovely idea to have a function to say ‘thank you’ to all businesses and the people who had played a part in the success stories of Ranui House.  The date was set for 3rd November, 2011 and 340 invitations were duly sent out.

The evening consisted of drinks sponsored by Lion and Giesen Wines with nibbles (made by our wonderful fundraising committee) and was attended by approx 120 people.  It was fun catching up with everyone – some from as far back as the formation of the Trust.  There was a lot of networking going on and many old acquaintances were renewed. Throughout the evening there was a slide show playing of old photos covering the 21 years.

Allison thanked everyone for attending and for the part they had played in the establishment of the Ranui Houses.  It was great to have an evening purely to show our appreciation.  Graham Paull, Chairman of the Trust also spoke thanking everyone for their input and concluded by reading some cards of appreciation sent in by grateful residents.

A Social Worker from Christchurch Hospital also spoke, saying how much the Social Workers appreciate Ranui House and how much easier Ranui House makes their job, by helping them to provide accommodation for patients and their families who are required to come to Christchurch for treatment.  He also commented on how helpful the staff are, going out of their way to accommodate people if at all possible. 

After the speeches it was just more chatter, talking over old times, more nibbles and drinks.
