2011 Cup Day
More FM ‘Dual Sulky Celebrity/Charity race’
Cantabrians had waited 2 years to celebrate NZ Cup and Show Week. As Tuesday November 8th dawned over our scarred city, the staunch men and women of Canterbury prepared to show off their individual fashion and flair to its best advantage, among them was CEO Allison Nicol in a black and white ensemble.
The Bone Marrow Cancer Trust was one five charities selected to receive $500 this year, the winner to receive an additional $1,500. We were extremely well looked after by the Trotting Club, Jo (Mayoress) a driver for NZ Spinal Trust, Grizz Wylie for Chch Children’s Holiday Camps, Andrew Hore for Child Cancer Foundation and Andy Ellis for Koru Care. Our celebrity was Gary McCormick, who put his heart and soul (and a little bit more) into the race. We didn’t win, Gary came in third, however it was a great day and a lot of fun was had by all.
